Proton sells stake in Italian motorcycle company

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's national carmaker Proton Holdings Bhd. said Tuesday it is selling its controlling stake in debt-ridden Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta SPA for a nominal euro1 (US$1.19) in cash.
The buyer, Italian investment holding company Gevi SPA, will assume Agusta's euro106.9 million (US$126.8 million) debt and euro32.5 million (US$38.5 million) working capital requirements, Proton said in a statement.
Proton said it paid euro70 million (US$59.32 million) for its 57.8 percent stake in Agusta in 2004, adding that the sale of the stake was "consistent with Proton's direction of divesting noncore assets.''
Proton last month blamed provisions for Agusta's debts with banks and suppliers as one of the reasons it suffered a net loss of 154.3 million ringgit (US$40.8 million; euro34.8 million) in the three months ended Sept. 30.
Proton Chairman Azlan Hashim has previously said the purchase of Agusta was supposed to have been "an opportunity mainly to gain access to a global brand, world-class engineering and design.''
However, he noted that "the investment has not met expectations.''
Proton said Tuesday its sale of Augusta is not expected to have any effect on earnings.
The carmaker has come under pressure to return to profitability after its domestic market share dwindled to around 30 percent in June from 44 percent last year, as the government is slowly lifting protective tariffs on foreign-made cars due to a regional free trade agreement.

Victoria Beckham has reportedly got David a £300k car for Christmas, while she wants a humble bike.

The former Spice Girl has apparently bought her husband the world's most expensive Rolls-Royce – the Phantom. It has already been delivered to their Hertfordshire home ready for their return, says the Sunday Mirror.

"Victoria's absolutely delighted with the car," a source told the paper. "And she is convinced it will be the perfect present for David.

"Everybody knows David is car-mad and she believes she's found a really, really special one for him this year."

The lady herself has apparently also asked for a set of wheels. "Victoria wants a bike so she can build up her fitness," explained the source. "Since she's been on the bike machine at the gym she's realised just how much she likes cycling."

Pamela Anderson thinking of sex

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee may have parted their ways, but the pair still find it difficult to resist making love when they meet.

The former 'Baywatch' babe, who has two sons with Lee, said that her ex-husband makes her think of sex, and that's why she has banned him from attending a family gathering this Christmas, because she wouldn't be able to resist having sex with him.

Pam said: "Tommy still makes me think of sex, not mashed yams and turkey"

Meanwhile, the former Baywatch babe has recorded a song with rocker Bryan Adams.

And not long ago, it was reported that she only had a few years to live when she announced she had hepatitis C. Now she says her hepatitis is "very minor," and she's feeling fine.

Mariah Carey is back

R&B, hip-hop dominated yet another year and pop-R&B performers, Kanye West, his protege John Legend and Mariah Carey lead the field for the 48th annual Grammy Awards with eight nominations apiece.

Carey, who just a couple of years ago was considered a dimming star, was reaffirmed as one of music's brightest Thursday as she was nominated for eight Grammy awards, including album of the year for "The Emancipation of Mimi."

Perhaps "The Emancipation of Mimi" should have been called "The Resurrection of Mariah Carey."

Their relationship which started off in year 2003, told us that they are so happy to be together and were to wed next year.

New Hummer??

No, this is not the latest version of the Hummer.
This hummer look alike car is actually a concept car of Fiat. It's called the "Oltre Fiat", and the show car was presented at the Bologna Motor Show recently. The design is focussed for off-road performance, that has already been chosen for use by the British and Italian armed forces.

Yeah! It's him. Curtis Jackson aka 50 cent, the rapper that got shot in the face and manage to survive.
Before his album went platinum, he actually made money selling drugs.
He was arrested together with his 16-year-old accomplice twice in 1994 on drug charges. And was hit with a concurrent sentence of 3-9 years in prison.
But lucky for him, 19 at that time, instead of prison, he spend only 7 months in a youth boot camp.

And this is interesting. You know where they hide the dopes? In fact, they hid crack cocaine in their underpants.
He is not that smart after all, but hey, he's so damn famous and rich now.
